Heydon is a lovely little out-of-the-way village close to Aylsham in Norfolk and is a favourite location for film and TV productions. It consists of a large green, surrounded by picturesque houses, cottages and a church. It also retains an old-fashioned charm as no new buildings have been added since 1887.
It is also a favourite meeting place for bikers on a Friday evening. I had heard mention of it before but had never been personally. Last Friday the East Anglia Ducati Club decided that it would be a good place to meet, so a load of us headed out there after work.
Unfortunately for me Mutley was still being repaired, so I had to go in the car.
The village really is tucked away down a cul-de-sac and is easy to miss unless you know that it’s there. We arrived fairly early but there was soon an eclectic mix of bikes (and people) and parking was at a premium.
The local pub, The Earle’s Arms, did a roaring trade in food and drink. I don’t think that bikers are particularly welcome in the village as the noise spoils the peace and tranquility but we certainly add to their revenue on a Friday evening.
